When my husband and I found out we were expecting, we vowed that we wouldn't let it slow us down. After all, we had just had a year of travel with a trip to Africa, Hawaii, and Disney within 9 months of each other! Then the universe threw us a curveball and we found out we were having twins! Okay, maybe it would slow us down a little bit.
The boys arrived right before the holiday season and so our first "traveling" we did was a short two and a half hour road trip to my parents house. I don't think we realized how much equipment a baby comes with, let alone two! I started by making a checklist broken down by category so I could easily make sure I had all of their needs gathered together. To me it made sense to pack each category into their own reusable shopping bag, if it was small enough to do so, and then throw their clothes in a suitcase of their own. We typically put all of our small category bags into a big plastic bin; this allows us to just bring everything inside in one shot. Our car was packed to the brim for a short little trip!
Having a packing list easily paid off and has made traveling with babies so much easier. We've been packing that way ever since and we have spent just about as many weekends away as we have at home! I've become so accustomed to making my packing list over the past 7 months that I figured, eh, why not share!
